Jerry Reinsdorf Isn’t Happy With Where The Search For A Commissioner Is Going

Ever since Bud Selig replaced Fay Vincent as MLB commissioner, he and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf have been seen as allies. It was Reinsdorf who helped Selig take over the job in the first place, and it was Reinsdorf standing right by Selig’s side supporting him during the 1994 player’s strike that cost everybody a World Series.

Since then, Jerry has always had a direct line to the commissioner’s office, but Bud Selig is scheduled to retire in January, and his succession plan is causing some cracks to show in the foundation of their relationship.

Conor Gillaspie Could Be Changing The Plan

Conor Gillaspie’s White Sox career seemed to end on December 16, 2013. That was the day Rick Hahn pulled off his second trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks in less than a week, surprising a lot of people when he sent Addison Reed to the desert for third base prospect Matt Davidson.

Davidson was one of the top prospects in Arizona’s system, and the Sox had given up their closer to get him. It seemed obvious at the time that Davidson was meant to be the third baseman of the future on the south side, and Conor Gillaspie’s days with the team were numbered.

But it doesn’t look like Gillaspie is ready to leave just yet.

POTD: So That’s Why They Make Ceramic Squirrels

Screen Shot 2014-05-20 at 9.37.58 AM

Hey, who among us hasn’t found themselves angry due to a lack of beer, picked up a ceramic squirrel and started stabbing people with it? I know one time we ran out of Red Stripe at the house and I picked up this porcelain panther, went outside and stabbed like 300 people. To death.

None of them had Red Stripe, man. They didn’t deserve to live.

Be Happy Jim Bowden Isn’t The Cubs General Manager

I missed it over the weekend, but ESPN’s Jim Bowden wrote a post about five potential trades that would benefit some semi-contenders that need help. One of the trades he proposed involved Jeff Samardzija.

After reading his idea, I think Cubs fans should be extremely grateful that Jim Bowden is a former Cubs general manager.

This Is One Way To Sign A Contract Extension

Screen Shot 2014-05-19 at 11.17.02 AM

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Brandon Marshall is the first professional athlete to go on a morning talk show and sign his contract extension. At first I wasn’t sure it was really happening, but the Bears confirmed the extension themselves shortly after Marshall broke the news on The View.

So it has to be true.
