POTD: Clausenmania Has Begun

@Kfishbain

@KFishbain

Oh god this is going to happen, isn’t it? The Bears are going to be fighting for homefield advantage in the playoffs this December, Jay Cutler is going to get hurt, and we’re going to have to rely on Jimmy Clausen.

Oh god. And he’s wearing Rex Grossman’s old number too.

We’re doomed.

The Mailbag: Crying For Robin Ventura’s Head

Welcome to The Chicago Homer’s Mailbag. It runs once a week unless it doesn’t, and in it I answer questions from readers via Twitter or email. The questions can be about any damn thing you please, and there likely isn’t a question I won’t answer. There may be questions I can’t answer, but I’ll try.

If you’d like to submit a question for the next edition of the mailbag it’s pretty simple. Either ask the question on Twitter using the #AskTCH hashtag — as long as you use the hashtag I will see it — or send an email to TCHMailbag@gmail.com.

And now that you know how to do it, let’s get to the this week’s questions.

Ranking The Bears Draft Picks

Will Sutton

After three days the NFL Draft has finally concluded, and the Bears made eight picks. With them, the Bears hope to fill some obvious needs and ensure a team that finished 8-8 last season has enough talent to make a Super Bowl run.

That’s all well and good, but none of it matters nearly as much as ranking the Bears draft picks against one another. That’s right, the Bears Draft Pick Power Rankings you’ve been demanding are now officially here!

Brandon Marshall Isn’t Looking To Break The Bank

bmarshall

You may not actually be aware of it since there hasn’t been a lot of chatter on the situation, but Brandon Marshall only has one year remaining on his contract. Marshall is going to make $9.3 million in 2014 and then, barring a contract extension before the end of the year, he’s going to hit the free agent market.

Considering the way he has played since coming to the Bears and putting on the orange and blue, there’s a chance he could prove to be too expensive for Chicago, particularly with the emergence of Alshon Jeffery.

There’s good news, however. Just because Marshall may be worth a lot doesn’t mean he’s going to need a lot. Marshall says he has no plans on leaving Chicago, and he’s not going to need a huge contract to stay, either.

The Mailbag: Yes, We Have A Mailbag Now

mailbag

When I was writing over at The Champaign Room I started a weekly mailbag post, and enjoyed it. While some of the questions got a bit repetitive, it provided the chance to write about things other than Illinois sports from time to time.

Believe me, when you’re writing about Illinois sports constantly, you really look to find ways to write about anything else occasionally. Your sanity demands it.

Well, Chicago sports doesn’t have the same effect because I only write about whatever the hell I want when I want, but I still enjoyed doing that damn mailbag. So I’ve started one here now. This is it! The first one! You are reading history!
