The Mailbag: Let’s Rank Some Chicago Teams

chicagologos

Welcome to The Chicago Homer’s Mailbag. It runs once a week unless it doesn’t, and in it I answer questions from readers via Twitter or email. The questions can be about any damn thing you please, and there likely isn’t a question I won’t answer. There may be questions I can’t answer, but I’ll try.

If you’d like to submit a question for the next edition of the mailbag it’s pretty simple. Either ask the question on Twitter using the #AskTCH hashtag — as long as you use the hashtag I will see it — or send an email to TCHMailbag@gmail.com.

And now that you know how to do it, let’s get to the this week’s questions.

Jonathan Toews Wins Game 5 In Overtime

Remember when the Blackhawks were down 2-0 in this series and we were all worried about the season being over? Well, thanks to this goal from Jonathan Toews, the Hawks are now up 3-2 and coming home to Chicago for Game 6.

Jonathan Toews Should Keep His Head Up Tonight

toewser

Brent Seabrook has been suspended three games for his hit on David Backes Saturday, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that, even up 2-0, St. Louis is going to be looking for retribution tonight. The Blues have a roster filled with guys who don’t do much more than hit anyway, so they’ll be looking SEND A MESSAGE of their own tonight.

And if you read between the lines of what coach Ken Hitchcock said Monday, there’s one player in particular that should be on the look out.

Let’s Talk About What Actually Matters: Jonathan Toews’ Health

Chicago Blackhawks v Detroit Red Wings - Game Four

What do you say we talk about Jonathan Toews’ health for a bit?

How about instead of debating whether or not the Blackhawks should have “sent a message,” or should be tougher and meaner — a debate I’ve been sucked into far too many times for my own liking in recent days — let’s just talk about the one thing that actually matters to the Blackhawks right now.

The health of Jonathan Toews, and what it means with the playoffs quickly approaching.

Please Don’t Let This Be The End Of The Season

Just in case losing Patrick Kane for the rest of the regular season wasn’t enough, this happened to Jonathan Toews on Sunday night.

He immediately left the ice and went to the locker room, and he did not return to the game. Afterward Joel Quenneville said he’s day-to-day and “I don’t think it’s serious.”

We can only hope he’s right.

Teuvo Is Coming

tuevo

Let’s see, the Blackhawks are currently hitting the home stretch of the regular season while locked in a tight divisional battle with both the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche. Once that’s over the playoffs will begin, and the Hawks will then begin their quest to win a second straight Stanley Cup, and their third in five years.

In other words, there’s a lot to get excited about when it comes to the Blackhawks, yet none of those things excite me as much as what Joel Quenneville said on Mac and Spiegel Tuesday morning.

Teuvo is coming.

There’s A ‘Loser Keeps Bieber’ Billboard Up In Chicago

loserkeepsbieber

That’s a billboard that’s currently up in Chicago about Friday’s semi-final between the United States and Canada. All of which means that there’s a lot more on the line than a possible gold medal.

Unfortunately this billboard also increases the chance that the game will never end, as both teams purposely miss the net in a shootout for eternity, ensuring that the NHL season never resumes.

Damn you, Justin Bieber. Damn you to hell.
