The 20 Highest Paid Players In Chicago

On Wednesday it was announced that Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane had signed contract extensions with the Blackhawks that would see both making $10.5 million a year starting in the 2015-16 season.

It also means they’ll be the highest paid players in NHL history, but how do their salaries compare to other athletes in Chicago? Well, not all that well, actually.

The New Bears Defensive Ends Are Definite Upgrades

The Bears haven’t made a major splash in free agency this spring, nor are they done rebuilding the roster as we’ll see an infusion of talent on the defensive side of the ball thanks to May’s draft. What they’ve done already, though, particularly on the defensive line, is improve the unit so far.

Or, at the very least, they’ve improved the defensive end position, even with the departure of Julius Peppers.

The Bears Are Now After Lamarr Houston

On Monday afternoon the Bears pursuit of the best defensive end on the free agent market, Michael Bennett, ended before it ever really began. But just because the Bears lost out on Bennett, who took less money to stay in Seattle, that doesn’t mean they’re sitting back licking their wounds.

According to Ian Rapoport the Bears have already moved on to their next target.
