This is the third time that Luis Suarez has bitten an opponent during a match. Now, if you’re unfamiliar with soccer or Luis Suarez, let me give you an American comparison.
Luis Suarez is really good. Like, one of the five best players in the world good. So just imagine that while in the middle of a 60-point game LeBron James just went and bit somebody on the court.
Three different times.
Of course, as baffled as I am by Suarez’s need to bite people (seriously, he does it so often that I had an entire conversation with Spencer Hall on Twitter about Suarez biting people three hours before yesterday’s match even began), the part of that match that really pissed me off was the bullshit red card given to Italy’s Claudio Marchisio with 30 minutes left in the match. That’s the reason Italy lost. It was definitely a yellow card, but to give somebody a red in that situation, in a match that important, well, hey, it could have been worse.
It could have been like Greece beating the Ivory Coast because of a penalty called on a guy tripping over himself.
Soccer refs: just as terrible as the refs in American sports.
