Welcome to The Chicago Homer’s Mailbag. It runs once a week unless it doesn’t, and in it I answer questions from readers via Twitter or email. The questions can be about any damn thing you please, and there likely isn’t a question I won’t answer. There may be questions I can’t answer, but I’ll try.
If you’d like to submit a question for the next edition of the mailbag it’s pretty simple. Either ask the question on Twitter using the #AskTCH hashtag — as long as you use the hashtag I will see it — or send an email to TCHMailbag@gmail.com.
One of the very first soccer players I became familiar with was Carlos Valderrama as he played with Colombia during the 1994 World Cup in a match at Soldier Field. One look at his hair should tell you everything you need to know about why I liked him.
Speaking of that Colombian team and the 1994 World Cup, if you never saw ESPN’s 30 for 30 “The Two Escobars” on that team and that tournament, you should. Of all the great 30 for 30s that ESPN has done, it may be the best of all.
Oh, and that’s Ozzie Guillen and his wife in the picture too. So it’s tangentially related to Chicago sports!
